Terms of Use
Last updated: July 10, 2026
Fire Marshal Mike is an informational reference tool. It is not legal advice, not an official copy of any fire code, and never a substitute for the determinations of your local fire code official.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using firemarshalmike.com (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
2. What the Service is (and is not)
The Service is an early-access preview that helps users look up and understand provisions of the Minnesota Fire Code. Answers are generated by software — including artificial intelligence — from summaries and excerpts of code provisions, and include references to the code sections they are based on.
- The Service does not contain the official text of the Minnesota Fire Code, the International Fire Code, or any other code. Official text is available from the State of Minnesota and the International Code Council.
- Answers may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. AI-generated content in particular can contain errors. Always verify against the official code and your local amendments.
- The Service does not provide legal, engineering, or other professional advice, and using it does not create any professional or advisory relationship.
- Code interpretation and enforcement authority rests with the State Fire Marshal and your local fire code official. Where judgment or discretion is involved, their determination controls — not this Service.
3. Life-safety warning
Fire and building code compliance affects life safety. Do not rely on the Service as your sole source for any decision that could affect the safety of people or property. Confirm requirements with the official code, a qualified professional, or your local fire authority before acting.
4. Acceptable use
- Do not use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the Service.
- Do not scrape, bulk-query, or access the Service by automated means without our prior written permission.
- Do not misrepresent the Service’s answers as official code text or as the determination of any authority.
We may throttle, suspend, or terminate access that violates these terms or degrades the Service for others.
5. Intellectual property
The Service’s software, design, branding, and logo are owned by the operators of Fire Marshal Mike. The International Fire Code is published by the International Code Council (ICC); the Minnesota Fire Code is adopted under Minnesota Rules, chapter 7511. The Service summarizes and cites code provisions; it does not reproduce official publications, and no affiliation with or endorsement by the ICC or the State of Minnesota is implied.
6. AI processing
Questions you submit may be processed by third-party AI providers (such as Anthropic) to generate answers. See our Privacy Policy for details on how your information is handled.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANSWERS ARE CORRECT, CURRENT, OR COMPLETE, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATORS OF FIRE MARSHAL MIKE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR RELIANCE ON) THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100).
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Minnesota.
